NATIONAL RECONCILIATION WEEK

This week is National Reconciliation Week. It is celebrated across Australia each year between 27th May and 3rd June. The dates commemorate two significant milestones in the Reconciliation journey—the anniversaries of the successful 1967 referendum and the High Court Mabo decision.

The week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements and to explore how each of us can join the national Reconciliation effort.

This year’s theme is, “Let’s take the next step.”

On 31st May, grades 3-8 followed a short part of the journey that the Aboriginal people made from Cummeragunja to The Flats in Mooroopna. We stopped at the story board and learnt a little about Aboriginal history and the Cummeragunja Walk then we continued our walk through to Daishe’s Paddock which is where Kidstown is currently located.
